The Bear MGC "Bear Jaws" allows you to open the blades and implements without opening the tool. In this design the needle nose pliers are accessed in a manner similar to the Leatherman, except there is a cutout in the solid portion of the handles, which face inside on this tool, to allow the jaws to pass through. When open, the solid faces provide a reasonably comfortable smooth grip.
The plain edge drop point and serrated sheepsfoot blades and tools don't lock. Implements included are medium and large slotted and #2 Phillips screwdrivers,bottle/can opener, fine/course file, and a lanyard ring. There is also an inch and metric ruler which are on the interior edges, so the toll must be opened to use them.
The Bear "Super Jaws" is a bulked-up version of the original with more tools and beefier pliers.
Bear also has a Tool Kit with an adapter that fits over the Phillips screwdriver and which hold standard quarter inch hex bits, very similar to the Gerber Tool Kit. Six bits are included and the kit fits into a pocket at the back of a nylon sheath supplied with the kit. It's also available as a package with the Bear Jaws.
NOTE: This review is necessarily very cursory because we have not yet evaluated the Bear Jaws tools, so far we have been unable to get our hands on some from the manufacturer to test.
