William D. Waldock (waldock@ibm.net) holds the academic rank of Professor of Aeronautical Science (Tenured) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In addition to his faculty duties, Professor Waldock is the Associate Director of the Center for Aerospace Safety Education at ERAU-Prescott, Arizona and manages the Robertson Aviation Safety Center.

He holds a Master's degree in Aerospace Science from ERAU, and has completed numerous formal training programs in aircraft accident investigation, crash survivability, fire and explosion investigation, and aviation safety.

He has over 15 years of experience in the field of aviation safety and has been flying actively in general aviation for more than 20 years.

He served more than 21 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, active and reserve, recently was Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Reserve Unit Phoenix and Operations Officer with Composite Naval Coastal Warfare Unit 110 in San Diego. He retired at the rank of Lt. Commander.

Waldock is also a private consultant and President of System Safety, Inc., specializing in aircraft accident investigation and has completed more than 75 field investigations and over 200 accident analyses to date. He is also active as a consultant to airlines and industry in the fields of Safety Program Management and Emergency Response.

He has published numerous articles in the field of aviation safety and is a Contributing Editor to Aviation Safety magazine.

He holds active memberships in several organizations including the American Society of Safety Engineers, AOPA, the World Safety Organization, is currently President of the Arizona Chapter of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators. He has been a member of the SAFE Association for more than 10 years and in 1990, the Association awarded him the General Spruance Award for "outstanding contributions to aviation safety through education".
