Further explanation and the overall rating of both quality and value for the Survival Kit will be found in the written evaluation which follows the kit contents listing.

Conclusions

The MSR Deluxe addresses some of the most serious shortcomings of the smaller MSR kits. It also provides the best value of the three, thouhg it is by no means inexpensive. The combination tool/knife/signal mirror is a poor compromise, but will do in a pinch. The addition of the Sparky flint and magnesium fire starter is a big improvement. The drawstring bag isn't as secure as we might prefer. We rate this kit as "good."
