I've used the Pocket ChainSaw for a few years now and found that on the tough Australian hardwoods it is ideal. Many of the military personnel that I have taught thought that it was ideal too, and as far as rattling in the can goes, we kept squares of oiled cloth in the can to both quiet and lubricate the saw. Sadly they are hard to find in Australia, but they are worth searching for.

After reading the "Equipped.org" review of the Pocket Chain Saw (by Supreme Products), I decided to scrape up a few shekels to aquire this saw. The purchase was money well spent!! The review was correct about it being able to cut hard wood, but it also does an excellent job in cutting through multi-layer plywood. Afterwards, cleaning is easy with WD-40. Quite a useful tool, and small enough to be worthy of any survival/bug-out kit.

I managed to pack a piece of leather shoelace into the can of the Pocket Chainsaw. This provides a usable handle and silences the rattle.
